About Dancing Kangaroo Tours
Since 2015, we’ve been sharing the Victoria we love. Best known for our Yarra Valley wine tours, we’re a small local team creating memorable journeys filled with great places, great people and plenty of good times.
Start with where
Each of the four has a guide of its own, covering the wineries, the towns and what a day there is like. Read whichever one you are drawn to, then come back here, select it and finish your enquiry. The Yarra Valley also has a full private tour page with its named days and pricing.
Yarra Valley

The busiest and best known of the four. Cellar doors of every size, a distillery and a brewery, and the widest choice of lunch.
Mornington Peninsula

Cool climate pinot and chardonnay, coastal towns, and hot springs if you want them in the day.
Bellarine and Geelong

Maritime vineyards around Drysdale and Portarlington, a quieter run of cellar doors, and mussels straight off the pier.
Macedon Ranges

Sparkling and cool climate reds around Kyneton and Woodend, with Hanging Rock and mountain air nearby.
Somewhere else in mind?
Chasing the famous ones instead. The Great Ocean Road and the Twelve Apostles, the Phillip Island penguins, or the laneways, breweries and distilleries of Melbourne itself. These three have no page of their own yet. They are still very doable as a private day, we just quote each one on its own rather than from a template. Tell us the date and the group and we will come back with a plan.
Great Ocean Road
A long day on the coast, the Twelve Apostles, and a lunch stop along the way.
Phillip Island
Wildlife, the beaches and the penguin parade, timed so you are not rushed at the end.
Melbourne city
Distilleries, breweries and bars close to home, with the driving and the bookings handled.
Already planned the day?
Hire the vehicle and driver only. A bus, minibus or coach with a driver, no itinerary from us.
Whatever you are celebrating
A private day bends to the group it is built for. Pick what brings yours together and we will shape the stops, the pace and the lunch around it. Your picks travel with you to the enquiry below.

Birthday
Mark the year somewhere better than a function room, with the good bottles and no one watching the clock.

Hens celebration
Sparkling first, a lunch you linger over, and everyone delivered home at the end of it.

Bucks celebration
A brewery, a distillery and a long table, with the driving taken care of.

Anniversary
Two of you, an unhurried tasting and a table with a view over the vines.

Friends’ day out
The whole group in one vehicle, a day off the clock, and someone else doing the bookings.

Family gathering
Somewhere that welcomes the grandparents and the kids, with lunch everyone can eat.

Corporate or team day
Off the emails by ten, back in town by five, and the whole team in the same room.

Milestone celebration
A retirement, a graduation, a hundredth. The sort of day people talk about afterwards.

Social club
Planned once, run properly, and easy to repeat next season with a different region.
If this is a work day
- One itinerary you can forward to the team, with pickup times and every stop
- A tax invoice with our ABN, made out to the company
- Accredited vehicles and drivers, with public liability cover on request
Planning a hens day?
- Prices for your group size, for both day styles
- Wineries that welcome hens, plus your sashes and your playlist
- Answers to the questions hens organisers ask most
Nothing picked yet. Choose the one that fits the day. is in your enquiry.
How far is each region from Melbourne?
Drive times are from the Melbourne CBD in ordinary traffic. Pickup anywhere else in Melbourne moves them a little either way. Choose a region below, the map follows it, and your choice carries into the enquiry.
A Yarra Valley day is an hour out, an hour home, and the rest of it with you in the region, long lunch included.
Why go private
A private day costs more than a seat on a scheduled tour. This is what you get for it.

The vehicle is yours
No strangers, no waiting on anyone else, and the day runs at the pace your group wants.

The stops are yours
Venues chosen for what your group likes, booked before you arrive, and changed if you want them changed.

Door to door
Collected from where you are staying anywhere in Melbourne, and dropped home at the end.

Made for occasions
Birthdays, hens and bucks days, anniversaries, family gatherings and work days all run this way.
What a day tends to look like
Two popular ways to run the day, plus one you build yourself. All three run in every region we quote. What changes is the venues, and those are chosen with you and confirmed in your quote. Every card carries the same four rows in the same order, so it is easy to see what actually changes.
The Great Ocean Road, Phillip Island and Melbourne city are quoted from scratch rather than from the two named days, so Build your own is the one to start from.

How many are coming?
Your numbers set the vehicle, and the vehicle sets how many stops the day can hold. Smaller groups move between more venues; larger groups need longer at each one. Planning for a big group? Read my guide to group winery tours from Melbourne.
Some cellar doors also cap booking size. Put your numbers in below and the itinerary further down shows the real stop count for your region. No group is too big or too small.
This lands in the enquiry below, so you only enter it once.0 guests · quoted for your group

Car or people mover
The most flexible size. Late changes are easy and small cellar doors are all open to you.

Van
Everyone in one vehicle. Venues are booked ahead, and most cellar doors still host you in their main room.

Minibus
Longer at each stop, so fewer of them, and lunch needs a set menu at most places.

Coach
Fewer stops and a firmer schedule. Above 55 the group splits across two vehicles.

Tastings the whole way through, with a casual winery lunch in the middle. How many stops depends on the region and the size of the group.

The cards below are the kinds of stops the day is built from rather than a numbered list. How many of them you get is the count above.

A hosted tasting to open the day
Small enough that someone talks you through what you are drinking, and early enough that everyone is still fresh.

Lunch is the anchor
Every day is built around lunch, booked before you arrive, and nobody is hurried out of their chair.

The driving is handled
Door to door from your address, and nobody in the group has to watch what they drink.

One more before home
The later stops are the loosest, and we leave when the group is ready rather than on the hour.

Ideal for wine lovers
The day is built around tasting properly. Hosted tastings at small cellar doors and well known names alike, with someone talking you through what is in the glass.

Up to four wineries
Four stops for a smaller group, fewer as the group grows, because larger groups need longer at each venue. The count above shows what your numbers allow in the region you pick.

An included winery lunch
A casual lunch with a glass, usually shared antipasto and wood-fired pizzas. Upgrade it to a two or three course sit down if you would rather, or pay for your own lunch on the day.

Ideal for friends with different tastes
Made for a group where not everybody drinks wine. There is something for the wine drinkers, the gin drinkers and the beer drinkers in the same day.

A couple of wineries, then a brewery or distillery
Wineries first, then finish at a distillery or a brewery, or both if the group is small enough. Larger groups drop one, so the count above shows what your numbers allow.

An included winery lunch
The same casual lunch with a glass, usually shared antipasto and wood-fired pizzas. Upgrade it to a two or three course sit down if you would rather, or pay for your own lunch on the day.

A big name to open with
Something recognisable and easy to enjoy, whether or not the group knows wine.

The one you have always wanted to see
Tell us the name and we will get you in, or we will suggest the closest thing to it.

Gin, whisky or beer
A distillery or a brewery instead of a third winery, for the part of the group that does not drink wine.

Produce and farm gates
Cheese, berries, chocolate or a bakery. Good with kids in the group, and good for taking something home.

The stop that is not a drink
A lookout, a wildlife stop or hot springs, worked into the day around the bookings.

A day shaped around the group
Tell us who is coming and what they enjoy, and we will suggest the order that works and book it in.

Questions about planning the day
Which region should we choose?
If the group is mostly about wine and you want the widest choice, the Yarra Valley. If you want the coast in the day, Mornington or the Bellarine. For something quieter with sparkling and country towns, the Macedon Ranges. If you cannot pick, tell us what the group enjoys and we will suggest one, and we are honest when a region is a poor fit for your date or your numbers.
How does a private day work, start to finish?
You send an enquiry. We come back with a suggested itinerary and a price, usually the same day. You change whatever you want changed. A deposit holds the date, we book the venues, and you get the final plan before you go. On the day your host collects the group from the door and brings everyone home.
Where do we find prices?
Right here, as a guide. Pick a region and a day above and the indicative pricing for that day opens, with a per person range for every group size. The line under the day cards gives the range for groups of 8 to 24 in each region. Your exact price comes in your quote, once we know where you are going, how many of you there are and how long you want the day to be.
What vehicle will we be in?
Whatever suits the number of you. A car or people mover up to six, a van or minibus up to sixteen, and a minibus or coach above that. Past 55 guests the group runs across more than one vehicle on the same itinerary. The vehicle is confirmed in writing with your quote.
How far is each region from Melbourne?
Between about an hour and about an hour and three quarters from the city, depending where you are headed. The map under How far is each region? sets out all seven. Your pickup suburb moves those times a little either way, and we plan the day around your pickup rather than the city.
Can you run a day that has nothing to do with wine?
Often. Distilleries and breweries, produce and farm gates, a long lunch, the coast road, wildlife, or a day built around the drive and the views. Say what the group actually enjoys and we will build around it.
Can we book this as a work day?
Yes, and we do a lot of them. Tax invoice with our ABN, insurance certificates if your workplace needs them, an itinerary you can forward to the team, and dietaries collected before the day. There is more on our corporate wine tours page.
How do we hold a date?
A deposit confirms the date. The balance is due one week before your tour, which is also when we finalise numbers. Weekends in spring and summer go first, so a few weeks ahead is comfortable and a couple of months is safer for a big group. You are never asked for card details to get a quote.
Do you only do private days?
No. If you are travelling as a couple or on your own and do not need a whole vehicle, our scheduled small group tours leave the city daily. If you only need the transport and no host, that is a charter, which is on the bus and minibus hire page.
Prefer to join a scheduled tour?
If you are travelling as a couple or on your own and do not need a whole vehicle, our daily Yarra Valley wine tours depart from the city with a small group and a set price per person.
