Since 2015

How it started

Sean founded Dancing Kangaroo Tours in the spring of 2015. He had fallen for food and drink tours while on holiday, worked out how good they were, and wondered why nobody was doing them properly back home.

So he gathered a few mates and spent weekends eating and drinking their way around Melbourne and out into the countryside. One night, back from the wineries with rosy cheeks, a mate said the weekends had been epic and the wines were amazing, and asked why Sean was not showing more people around.

That was the seed. Dancing Kangaroo Tours started the following weekend.

The pose

Then a guest invented the pose

Somewhere along the way a guest struck a kangaroo pose for the group photo. The next group asked for it. Then every group asked for it, and it stopped being a joke and became the thing people put on their wall.

More than ten years on, we are still small on purpose. A handful of hosts, hand picked venues, and buses where people get off knowing each other.

A day with us

What a day with us looks like

Every day is a little different, but most follow the same shape. One host looks after you from the first hello to the last stop.

Hello in the city

We meet at the Arts Centre Melbourne Spire, or at your door on a private day. Coffee first at Protagonist, next door, is always a good idea.

Cellar doors

Your host knows the pourers by name, so every tasting feels like dropping in on friends. No wine question is a silly one.

A long lunch

Lunch at a winery, sitting down together and comparing favourites from the morning.

The pose

Somewhere along the way the group photo happens. You will know it when you see it.

Home again

Back to the city, or your door, usually knowing everyone on the bus.

Customer service

How we look after you

Looking after people is the part of the job we love most. Here is what you can count on, from your first message to the end of your day.

Before you book

The family answers

Call or WhatsApp us on 0452 560 488 and you get one of us, not a call centre.

A plan and a quote, usually the same day

Tell us about your group and Selina or Kim will come back with a plan and a quote, usually the same day. Nothing is locked in until you say yes. Just need transport? We also do bus, minibus and coach hire with a driver.

On the day

Your driver is your host

The same person drives, keeps the timing and stays with your group from pickup to drop off. They know the staff at every stop.

Everyone is looked after

Non drinkers and dietary needs are looked after as well as everyone else. Just tell us when you book.

If plans change

Daily tours

Booked directly with us? Moving your date is free if you ask more than 72 hours before, subject to availability. If a tour is ever cancelled for low numbers, you hear from us at least two days before and choose another date, another tour or a full refund.

Private tours

Private days have their own terms, because we book venues and vehicles just for your group. You will find them in our terms and conditions, and we are always happy to talk them through.

The people

Meet the team
